I still remember the day a teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. ‘A teacher,’ I replied, knowing even then that the answer pleased her more than it satisfied me. Little did I know that, years later, I would truly find my vocation within the world of education.
My academic journey began with a Degree in Art History. I deeply enjoyed those years, nourishing myself with artistic production throughout history and engaging in profound reflections on art theory and philosophy. It was upon finishing that degree that the idea of entering education began to awaken, leading me to complete my Pedagogical Aptitude Certificate (CAP), qualifying me as a secondary school teacher.
However, feeling I still lacked a foundation in pedagogy and didactics, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education. While this period provided me with essential epistemological and teaching content, my first professional experiences brought on a personal crisis. I found myself in disagreement with conventional methods and attitudes that did not align with my understanding of what education should be.
In the midst of that crossroads, I discovered the Postgraduate program in Active Education and Respectful Accompaniment at La Violeta. A whole new horizon of respectful possibilities opened up before me. I then decided to train as a Montessori Guide (ages 3–6), combining my studies with my first roles in active education across both Early Childhood and Primary stages.
I join Mayrit eager to contribute my experience and my ongoing training—which I never stop expanding (Montessori Primary Guide, Positive Discipline, ‘Educación Creadora’, Forest School, and Waldorf). Above all, I come with the intention of continuing to learn from the true teachers: the children.
