2015: The seed of a shared dream
Mayrit Escuela Activa wasn’t born in an office, but in the conversations of a group of families who shared the same vision. We were looking for a place where emotional well-being was the foundation of everything—a place where each child’s individual pace was respected, and where learning could once again be a joyful experience, filled with wonder and curiosity.
In September 2013, we decided to stop searching and started building. We opened our doors in 2015 with the certainty that a different kind of education was not only possible, but necessary.
2018: A home designed for childhood
In 2018, our growth led us to our current home in Pozuelo de Alarcón. This space was not chosen by chance: it was designed hand-in-hand by our pedagogical mentors and architects who understood that the environment is the “third teacher.”
We created a safe, bright, and opportunity-filled place, intended to be “colonized” by the children. While strictly adhering to all legal and safety frameworks, we never lost the essential warmth of a true home.
More than a school: A non-profit community
Today, Mayrit is an accredited International Center (Early Childhood and Primary) that remains true to its original essence: we are a non-profit project.
Purpose-driven management: All income is fully reinvested into the sustainability and continuous improvement of our pedagogical project.
A support network: While the pedagogical mentors lead the day-to-day life of the school, our families are the backbone and the network that keeps the heart of the school beating. From organizing celebrations to creating materials for workshops—every hand counts.
Authentic bonds: We continue to be a community where families and mentors walk side-by-side to protect every child’s right to be the protagonist of their own development.
